I SAW MY MOTHER IN-LAWS SECRETS AND I BECAME BLIND AND DEAF

My story is a bit disturbing and i would advice sensitive readers to not l read…It took me years to open up about this as i was still trying to convince myself that i am hallucinating.

I married into a family of different beliefs. In my family, we followed my father's religion and he expected us to carry it even when we are older. We were never forced to carry it at an older age but only it felt right. It was the only religion we've known our whole lives anyway.

My husband's family on the other hand were different. My father in-law was a pastor while my mother inlaw was a traditional healer(sangoma). They were so neutral about everything, the kids had the freedom to choose where their beliefs laid.

Coming from a Christian religion, it took me a while to accept and understand mamazala's calling. I used to be so scared of her and super uncomfortable around her. My father in-law was a playful man filled with jokes.

Mamazala was always serious, she was the no nonsense kind of woman. She spent most of the time alone. Even though my parents inlaw were married they both had seperate bedrooms. My mother inlaw slept in a hut that's next to my father inlaw's bedroom.

As umakoti from the rural settlements, i knew my duties as a wife. I would wake up before the crack of dawn to start with my wifely duties. The first thing i used to do was sweep the entire yard.

Here's what used to trouble me. I used to find mud, dried grass,wet sand and what looked like thorns by mamazalas doorstep every time. Those things were found even when it wasn't raining. At first i didn't think much of it.

And mamazala used to give me this "uyaphapha look"(You are too forward). And she somehow couldn't stand me. Her reason for disliking me was because if i heard or something weird at night,I'd be asking everyone in the yard if they felt or heard it the next morning.

At some point she once told my husband that he has a loud mouthed woman who deserves to lose her voice. I am someone who usually wakes up around midnight to pray. It gets freezing around midnight in that yard.

Literally freezing but only for a few minutes,10 to 15 minutes to be exact. Then around 3am the chills comes back and suddenly you'll hear my mother in-laws door banging. The bang is loud but the door will still be intact the next Morning.

I think i asked her about the banging door four times and she would always give me the "you'll die look". I eventually stopped asking a lot of questions. I have never seen mamazala eat, like ever guys.

Most mamazala's likes it when their daughters in law cooks for them, but not my mamazala. She cooked her own food. You'd never see what she's cooking because she cooks outside with wood fire. She has never used the stove.

Mamazala has her own pots and food in her hut. She cooks then carries the pots straight to her room. Family members stopped asking questions a long time ago but i was the only curious one.

One night, i couldn't sleep. I can't remember why but i do remember not being able to sleep. So i got up and took out a book to read. My side of the bed is just right next to the window.

From my window i can see mamazala's hut but not the window as its placed at the back. My husband and i slept in an outside room. Anyway, since my husband was sleeping, i used the side lamp to read my book. I didn't want to wake him up with the room light, it's too bright.

As i was enjoying my book, midninght came. It was prayer time! I wanted to get off the bed,kneel down by the bed and pray. Before i could even do that it suddenly got freezing in our room. I couldn't move, i was frozen. Evrything in the room now looked grey as if we are under water.

Usualy when it was prayer time, I'd just move with my eyes closed and prayed. I would be super cold and lazy to get out of bed so I'd just pray while in my sleep. But today was different. I wasn't sleepy nor cold a moment ago but now a sudden wave of coldness hit and my eyes just wanted to shut. It was as if i was drugged.

I honestly don't know what happened but suddenly it was morning and i was sleeping on the floor. Not just any floor but a wet floor. Nothing made sense, i got up and my body was painful. It felt like i was hit by a bus. I moved slow with a painful body.

I managed to do my chores, and as per usual watched tv once i was done with everything. I felt sicker and sicker and decided to go lay down in the room. I don't even know how i fell asleep. I was awaken by that freezing cold temperature,it was dark and my husband was sleeping. I didn't even hear him come back from work nor heard him come to bed.

He brought me food and covered it with a cloth, i smiled with relief because i was hungry. I suddenly heard weird sounds outside and i went to the window to look. Till this day i wish i had never looked out that window that day.

That is the day my life turned upside down! I saw a huge snake and what i am still trying to figure out to this day is we looked like we were flotting in water from the window. Inside the room was just cold and greyish. But outside looked like we were under water.

The snake dissapeared into mamazalas house and mamazala was just standing by the door. She gave me a very hateful look and banged the door. How do we unsee things?

I woke my husband and he slowly looked out the window and everything was very normal. I didn't believe him when he said everything looked fine, i looked and there was nothing there. We were not flotting in water either, but how????!

The next day i woke up deaf and mute. To this day i am still deaf and divorced. I heard that my father inlaw passed away a year ago and mamazala is still as strong as a teenager.
