A 26-year-old unemployed mother from N’wamitwa has been kicked out of her home after opening a case against her brother, who allegedly raping her six-year-old daughter in New Canada Village, N’wa Mitwa.

The 18-year-old “malume”was initially arrested on 30 September 2025 following investigations by the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit.

In a viral video circulating on social media, the young mother, identified as Listher Chauke, recounts returning home to find her child visibly traumatised.

She later discovered that her parents — the child’s grandparents — had allegedly known about the rape but chose to remain silent, failing to inform her or take any action.

Chauke, originally from Mavele Village, explained that it was her sister-in-law who noticed the child’s repeated discharge and raised concerns.

The child was taken to a nearby hospital, where medical examinations confirmed that she had been raped multiple times.

After being repeatedly questioned, the young girl eventually confided in her school principal, revealing that her uncle had been raping her since January.

Following this revelation, the mother opened a case with the police — a move that led to her being forced out of her family home. She is now seeking a place to stay.

Adding to her challenges, Chauke does not have an identity document and currently survives by working as a labourer on a local farm during harvesting seasons. However, information received indicates that the Department of Home Affairs has started assisting her with obtaining an ID.
