Limpopo Lekompo Star Shebeshxt’s Cars Seized for Forensic Analysis as Lawyer Challenges Case
Controversial Lekompo musician Lehlogonolo “Shebeshxt” Katlego Chauke remains behind bars, accused of attempted murder, after police seized his vehicles for forensic analysis in connection with a road‑rage shooting.
On 12 November 2025, Shebeshxt was arrested in a coordinated intelligence‑led operation in the affluent Bendor suburb of Polokwane. The arrest follows a violent incident on 19 October 2025 on Witklip Street in Ladanna, where he allegedly fired several shots at another vehicle during a confrontation, critically injuring a 34-year-old man.
As part of the investigation, police impounded Shebeshxt’s vehicles and transported them to a station for forensic examinations. Authorities say they hope the forensic results will shed light on the events of that night — potentially tying the vehicles directly to the shooting.
Limpopo Police Commissioner Lt‑Gen Thembi Hadebe praised the joint investigative operation, saying a specialised team is leaving “no stone unturned. “The South African Police Service reiterates that no one is above the law,” she added.
Legal Pushback from Shebeshxt’s Team
Shebeshxt’s legal team has mounted a vigorous defense, calling the State’s case weak, inconsistent, and overly influenced by his public image and celebrity status. According to his lawyers, prosecutors are relying too heavily on viral social media content, rather than concrete evidence.
They claim to have material that directly contradicts the State’s version of events and insist that once a full and fair investigation is complete, their client will be vindicated.
During a brief appearance at the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on 13 November, Shebeshxt was formally charged with:
-
Two counts of attempted murder
-
Malicious damage to property
-
Possession of an unlicensed firearm
His bail hearing has been postponed to 21 November 2025, a delay requested by the prosecution as it consolidates the current case with other pending matters against him.
Apart from the present charges, Shebeshxt faces more serious pending allegations: the NPA has said he could also face further counts of attempted murder, assault, robbery, and malicious property damage.
The case has sparked broad public attention — not just because of the severity of the allegations, but also due to Shebeshxt’s prominence in the Lekompo music scene. Fans and critics alike are watching closely, as the forensic analysis of his vehicles could either strengthen the State’s case or provide a major defense breakthrough.
Meanwhile, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has expressed confidence in its ability to prosecute, saying that further charges may be added once investigations conclude.
