FIVE PEOLE HAVE DIED IN LIMPOPO DURING THE FLOODS

Limpopo Floods: Death, Destruction and Fear as Rains Destroy Lives

Limpopo has been hit hard by dangerous floods, and the damage has been terrible. Heavy rain has turned rivers into death traps, washed away homes, and left families heartbroken.

So far, at least five people have died in Limpopo because of the floods. Some were swept away by fast-moving water, while others drowned when their cars were carried off flooded roads.

Livestock is also dying, people are losing their goats, cows  and more

In one tragic case, a woman died after her car was washed away by floodwaters. Rescue teams searched for hours, but it was too late. In other areas, people were trapped in rising water with no way to escape.

There are fears that more people may be missing, especially in rural villages where floods cut off roads and communication.

The floods did not only take lives — they destroyed everything in their path.

Hundreds of houses were damaged or washed away

Families lost furniture, clothes, food and important document

Some people were left with nothing but the clothes they were wearing

Many families are now sleeping with relatives or in temporary shelters, scared that more rain could come.

Floodwaters caused massive damage across the province:

  • Roads and bridges collapsed

  • Schools were flooded, forcing children to stay home

  • Clinics were damaged, making it hard for people to get medical help

Some villages were completely cut off, with no way in or out.

People in Limpopo say they now live in constant fear. Every time dark clouds appear, families worry that rivers will rise again.

Experts warn that climate change is causing heavier rains and more floods. Poor communities living near rivers are the most at risk.

The Limpopo floods are a reminder that nature can turn deadly in minutes. Communities are calling on government to fix roads, improve drainage, and help families rebuild before the next disaster strikes.

For now, many people are left mourning the dead, searching for the missing, and praying the rains will stop.
