5 YEAR OLD SUFFOCATED BY HIS SCHOOL’S WINDOW AFTER BEING LOCKED IN A CLASSROOM

The school unalived my 5 year old little brother by locking him inside an empty classroom and he got stuck on the window trying to escape and no one checked up on him for hours until he passed away

My little brother was only five years old. He was excited to go to school. He had just started Grade R and everything was new to him. He wore his small uniform with pride and carried his bag like he was ready to take on the world. We trusted that when he walked through those school gates, he would be safe.

Instead, he never came home.

We received the call no family should ever get. Something had happened at school. By the time our mother reached the hospital, confusion and silence surrounded her. She asked questions, but no one gave clear answers. Later, she was told that her child was gone.

What we were told does not make sense. What we have heard from others is even more painful to imagine. It is believed that he was left alone in a classroom. Locked inside. With no teacher, no supervision, and no one checking on him.

A five-year-old child.

They say he tried to get out through a window. Maybe he was scared. Maybe he thought everyone had forgotten him. Maybe he cried for help. Maybe he called for his teacher. Maybe he just wanted to go home.

But no one came.

Hours passed.

By the time he was found, it was too late.

The school reportedly said he was found near the toilets, but this version of events has only raised more questions. Why was he alone? Why did no one notice he was missing? Why did no one check the classroom? Why did it take so long?

Our family is still waiting for clear answers. His belongings have not been returned. His teacher cannot be found. We are left with grief, confusion, and a silence that feels unbearable.

No parent sends a child to school expecting never to see them alive again. Schools are meant to protect children, not fail them. A classroom should be a place of learning and laughter, not fear and loneliness.

My little brother was not just a headline or a viral post. He was loved. He had a beautiful smile. He had dreams he never got the chance to grow into. He deserved to be protected. He deserved to be seen. He deserved to be checked on.

He deserved to come home.

We are not only mourning a child. We are asking for truth. We are asking for accountability. We are asking for justice.

Because no child should ever be forgotten behind a locked classroom door.
