What began as a simple act of kindness has uncovered a deeply concerning situation that now requires urgent community assistance.
Yesterday, a man by the name of Thabo Radebe noticed a woman sitting alone in Katlehong who appeared visibly stressed. Out of concern, he approached her and asked what was wrong. The woman explained that she had traveled from Pretoria to Katlehong to meet her social media boyfriend, Sibusiso Khumalo, who had since switched off his phone, leaving her stranded and without help.
Fearing for her safety, Thabo recorded a short video of the woman and shared it on social media in the hope that someone might recognize her and confirm that she arrived home safely. He also assisted her with taxi fare so she could return home and later posted an update believing she was on her way back to Pretoria.
The video circulated widely and eventually reached the woman’s family. What they revealed changed the situation entirely and prompted an urgent plea for help.
According to the family, the woman did not come from Pretoria but from Katlehong. They stated that she had run away from home, is not mentally well, and has been missing for a long time. They confirmed that her real name is Anathi, not the name she initially gave, and that she often uses false names and identities wherever she goes. The family has been desperately searching for her.
Her mother has endured years of heartbreak. After Anathi first disappeared, she was only seen again after several years and has now gone missing once more. The family fears for her safety and well-being and says the situation is extremely serious.
